Encounters between Man and Jaguar (Yaguareté to
Argentina people) have been occured from immemorial times.
The tipes, the places, the facts, the appreciations and the consequences have been, are and will be always unique in each case.
Lamentably, more and more frequently, these histories
ends with the life of the big cat, because of very diverse reasons, but there are encounters for all the tastes, from tragic to majestic.
In the first population censuses of Argentina,
there was a profession denominated TIGRERO (from Tigre, the
spanish name most common for the Jaguar trowgh its range since the
colony), that included people who hunted Yaguaretés and get payed
for, at that time, Jaguars were very numerous and threatening of the man and domestic animals. Some of these Tigreros
can still count their feats, 10, 15, 30... and few follow with their activity in regions less remote of
it could be imagine.
Today, there is a new TIGREROS generation, but very different from those.
They look for it to admire it and to protect it, because there are
no longer so many as at those times, in many places already only his memories
are still found and is very difficult to find it in our forests, someones have never seen it and many
others will never see it in the wild, but all of them do something so that the
magnific enourmous cat really continues walking our lands and,
finally they share with the "original Tigreros" a very special relation with the
YAGUARETÉ.
They are the NEW TIGREROS.
