Baritú-Tariquía Corridor: a path for the jaguar

It is crucial to ensure the connectivity of the forest between Baritú (Argentina) and Tariquía (Bolivia). So a project was developed with the aim of studying the area's potential for jaguar long term conservation, identify key sites within the corridor and promote the protection of them to enable the flow of individuals from one extreme to another.

The project is led by Biologist Erica Cuyckens and for being a key issue for this area, where the Red Yaguareté is making efforts in recent years, we have joined the initiative, bringing all our knowledge of the field, people and the area in general. Click here for more.

The Red Yaguareté integrates the Environment Council of Salta province

The Red Yaguareté and other 10 organizations participated in a meeting called by the Salta's Ministry of Environment, which elected a representative of this group to attend meetings of the Provincial Council for the Environment, established under Law 7070.

The council is also integrated by the provincial government, representatives of productive sectors and both the Catholic an National universities of Salta province.

From this multisectoral group, we can defend jaguar forests of bulldozers and search for sustainable alternatives between production and conservation.
