Last Tuesday 29th of January 2,002 we received the advice of an authorization of the Ministry of Ecology of the Province to make a clearing of 30 hectares of Misionera Forest in the Lot 40-C of Larrahague Colony, Guaraní Department, which is contiguous with the Yaguaroundí Private Reserve, in the Central Mountain ranges, which is one of the last Jaguar region.

We Immediately began a campaign with the representatives of the Reserve and other  people and organizations interested in protecting the forest of the destruction without future.

After several days of silence and in spite of innumerable letters, e-mails, newspaper  notes and mentions in radial programs, the Ministry of Ecology, through Marcela Grillo, Coordinator of the Special Unit of Green Runner Management, denied that the clearing was authorized.

The provincial employee defined any responsibility of the Ministry of Ecology, denied that the clearing were authorized and affirmed that the satelite images did not find indications of clearings in any of the edges of the Reserve, "was stated that no cleared exists, there is a macheteo of the underbrush of a surface of one single hectare, for the installation of the house of a caretaker, in the lot of the Carré succession, that is one thousand meters from the limit of the Reserve ", according to informed the Newspaper the Territory the 08 of February of 2.002.

Apparently the native forest was going to be replaced by plantations of Tobacco and exotic Pine, which would cut a fundamental step for the wild fauna of this zone that it wants to be protected, throwing 5 years of concerted efforts in few hours and seating an ominous precedent in the zone.

It is important to emphasize that the zone is of 6-B grounds, nonapt for this type of projects and that of coming the clearing would break laws 3,426 , 3,631 and 2,932, but most importan is that this will bankruptcy the essence of the Project of the Green Runner, by who the Ministry of provincial Ecology must guard; an ominous antecedent for the next ones is opened which they want to end the paranaense forest, are debilitated the institutions (and our credibility towards them) and power a spiral of UNILATERAL and ARBITRARY ATTITUDES, when the law of the Green Runner keeps a dialoguis spirit.

Also, we must be alert and to demonstrate that our position is not a mere temporary question. We are arranged to make respect the laws and our rights.
